Girl, 4, killed when Golden Retriever falls five stories and lands on her in shocking new video
A 4-year-old girl was killed in a freak accident Tuesday when a Golden Retriever inexplicably fell five stories and landed on the youngster in India — with the entire tragedy caught on shocking video.
The unidentified youngster was walking with her mom along a narrow street in Thane around 4:30 p.m. when the pup falls seemingly out of thin air from a nearby building, smashing into the unsuspecting family and landing squarely on top of the tiny girl, according to the Times of India.
The footage from the viral video shows the girl’s panicked mom quickly pick her injured daughter up and cradle her as she runs quickly off screen, presumably to get help.
The girl suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at a local hospital, the outlet said.
Meanwhile, the dog remains still on the ground clearly stunned at first, but is seen moving a few seconds later and appears to get up unsteadily while remaining in the middle of the street.
It is unclear how seriously the dog was hurt or if it eventually survived the freak fall.
Merchants and pedestrians at the scene appear not to have noticed the tragic mishap in their midst.
Police have not yet determined how the dog came to tumble from such a great height and whether the mutt jumped or was hurled from the building.
According to the Times, the girl’s mother told police she does not suspect foul play.
Authorities are working with the Thane Municipal Corporation to determine who the dog’s owner is and the circumstances surrounding the incident, according to reports.
The incident took place around 18 miles outside of Mumbai.
