The Israeli Defense Forces destroyed a Hamas weapons workshop it discovered hidden beneath Khan Younis in southern Gaza.
Footage published on Wednesday revealed the moment the IDF’s 7th Brigade Combat Team and 603rd Battalion uncovered the hidden workshop after taking out 70 Hamas terrorists in the Bnei Sohila neighborhood.
Once inside, the Israeli soldiers find a large room where Hamas stored and manufactured its arms to attack the Jewish state, with the walls covered with tools to construct and maintain the weapons.
The IDF said that there were three rooms inside the underground tunnel used to hold the Hamas weapons.
After documenting the manufacturing plant, the troops laid out explosives and destroyed the underground system.
The operation in the Bnei Sohila neighborhood comes as intense fighting between Israel and Hamas returns to being the norm in Khan Younis, once the most largest hub in southern Gaza.
The IDF issued new evacuation orders in the city earlier this month as the fighting with Hamas heated up, with the Israeli military warning that it will “forcefully operate” in the city after the terror group fired missiles at Israel from within Khan Younis.
Southern Gaza will likely see a resurgence of intense battles after Hamas Gaza chief Yahya Sinwar was appointed the new leader of the terror group following former head Ismail Haniyeh’s assassination.
“We will make an effort to find him, strike him, and [cause Hamas to] replace the head of the political bureau once more,” IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi said in a statement.
“We will be able to launch a very quick attack anywhere in Lebanon, anywhere in Gaza, anywhere in the Middle East, above ground and below ground,” he added.
